Trams and Buses

Trams and bues run 7 days a week, 365 days a year. In most places, excluding the far outreaches of the city, a bus or tram is every 10 or 15 minutes. Through weekdays buses are often every 5 to 7 minutes.

Trams run through the old city to all of the main border and city limits, these are shown on the tram map below which can be downloaded in full.

Buying Tickets

Tickets for all trams and buses are bought from bright green machines located at every station. All machines have the option for English. Tickets are most often bought for one zone, which covers the city center or two zones to get to the airport.

Trains

Trains rull to all major and minor towns and cities around the area. Smaller outer suburbs can be reached by using S-Bahn trains. These are once or twice an hour and stop at every station around Basel. Tickets in general are cheap.
